With Christmas being only a few days away, the spirit of the season is at an all time high. One of the best things to do during the holidays is spend time with family, and thanks to Nickelodeon and Paramount+, you can watch the network’s new holiday flick, Snow Day with your loved ones at home.

If you’re wondering why you’ve heard the name Snow Day before, its because you definitely have. The new film is a fresh take on the iconic classic from 2000 that starred Chris Elliott, Mark Webber, Jean Smart, Chevy Chase, Josh Peck and Emmanuelle Chriqui, and now 22 years later, the network is giving the beloved comedy a musical reimagining.

Now airing on Nickelodeon and streaming on Paramount+, Snow Day follows a group of kids who are determined to achieve their dreams when their school closes for a snow day. Siblings Hal (played by Ky Baldwin) and Natalie Brandston (played by Michaela Russell) discover that anything is possible on a snow day when a surprise winter whiteout offers them the chance to break routines, take giant risks and follow their dreams.

Inspired to pursue his crush, Claire (played by Shelby Simmons), Hal enlists the help of his best friend, Lane (Fabi Aguirre), to help him express his feelings, and Natalie decides she must challenge her arch nemesis, the Snowplowman (played by Jerry Trainor) if she wants to pull off the task of creating a second snow day.

“I’ve been talking to people and they’ve been saying [Snow Day] was their favorite Christmas movie to watch every year, which made this project so exciting,” Ky tells Celeb Secrets reporter Ilana Epstein exclusively during a virtual junket. “I’m hoping this revival can be that for the new generation of families.”

While the overall theme of the movie is the same, things that differ from the original are the extravagant musical numbers that will not only capture your attention, but also have you singing along all throughout the holidays.

[The finale] such fun choreography,” Fabi recalls. “We got to work with our incredible choreographers and learned a lot from them. Being mentored was such an honor.”

The final sequence of the final scene and song was this massive 4 day shoot in the snow,” Ky adds. “We had custom built an ice rink and had incredibly talented ice skaters, so watching them perform was amazing.”
