Most Americans think of the Gold Rush as an especially exciting aspect of the Wild West. Complete with scoundrels, sheriffs and ghost towns, the era in which California was a hot spot for miners often seems more like a Hollywood fantasy than a page in a history book. For folks like Parker Schnabel, however, the search for gold mines is not yet over.
Schnable rose to national attention in 2017 for his role in the reality TV series Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail. The program follows the young Alaskan across the globe to Australia, where he and his three companions chase after the Mother Load. Now, the show has been officially canceled, and invested viewers are wondering what Schnable has been up to in recent months. We have taken a closer look at the TV star’s most recent activities to clue fans into his life after the show.
Embracing Life ‘Up North’
While most viewers have gotten used to seeing Schnable exploring the world ‘down under,’ it seems that the TV star is spending a lot more time in the Northern hemisphere. And, by the looks of it, he is hanging out way above the Equator. The young Alaskan’s Instagram account shows him hitting locations with moose, soaring pines and tons of snow. The only question is: where is he?
Based on what we can gather, Schnable is far up north in a very natural environment. He recently posted a short video of himself hanging with his dog at a public park. That wouldn’t seem so special, except for the fact that the clip shows the reality TV star swinging on a swing set with a giant moose carving at the top. How unique! In the background, viewers can see sky high pine trees— a classic sign of a natural environment. There are also clusters of log cabins grouped together behind the park. While Schnabel did not include a geo tag, we can clearly see that he has been keeping things ‘natural.’
The gold rusher teased his followers once again about his whereabouts in a post that shows him at work with a tractor. “World class diagnostics team,” he wrote, “location and source unknown.” However, in spite of the mysterious language, Schnable dropped yet another major hint about where he could be: a video of his work in the snow. Only the coldest places in the northern hemisphere experience such low temperatures in the fall, so it definitely seems that the TV star is enjoying life à la “northern.”
Keeping Close To Friends
While Schnabel has been posting photos of himself “out and about,” we see that he has taken advantage of his break from filming to connect with some of his friends. The television personality posted a lively photo of his birthday party, which showed him bonding with four other guys over beers. In the shot, the crew of buddies seems to be in lively spirits as they hang out in a traditional dive bar. “Birthday drinks,” he wrote in the caption.
As with any conversation about Schnable’s social life, we can’t forget to mention the time he has spent with his trusty hound Dozer. The gold rusher has not hesitated to include his adorable pup in almost all of his photos. A particularly adorable shot shows Dozed hanging out in front of some of the machinery ar Schnable’s digging site. So cute!
Reality TV Time
Just because Schnable will no longer be featured on reality TV, doesn’t mean that he doesn’t continue to tune in to some of his favorite hit shows on Discovery Channel. According to the gold rusher’s Twitter page, he is particularly excited about programs that show tough men and women trying to make it in the wild.
One shows that the media personality seems enthusiastic about watching is the extreme fishing program All On The Line. Schnable even went so far as to retweet the show’s trailer in order to encourage his followers to tune in and check the series out. Apparently, the nature enthusiast is quite interested to know how Bluefin tuna season went for fishermen in quarantine!
While some fans may be shocked to discover that the star enjoys shows other than his own, it is important to keep in mind that the gold rush guru actually enjoys all things related to hunting and fishing. At the end of the day, it’s fitting that the dude who literally caught a shark in Australia would be drawn in by a high-stakes fishing show!
Will Schnable one day particulate on any of Discovery Channel’s fishing shows? We have no idea. However, we definitely hope so!
