Indie pop protagonist Natalie Shay takes sentimental trip down memory lane in the DIY music video for her latest single ‘Doing Well’.
Serving as something of a visual scrapbook, packed with some of the singers most treasured memories from 2023, the super cute clip pairs an internet-like aesthetic with candid, home videos of family and friends, interspersed with shots of Natalie having fun, and playing around in her local park.

Originally released last Friday (January 19th 2024), ‘Doing Well’ sees Natalie reflect upon the dangers of dreaming of the future, and not living in the moment.
Written and produced by English Indie-pop group Fickle Friends, the upbeat track serves as the follow up to epic banger ‘Figure of 8’ – which not only received strong support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Billboard, CLASH, The Line of Best Fit, Notion, and Wonderland, but also helped boost the singers streams up to an incredible 9 million!
Commenting on the single, the North London native says: “Doing well is the daydream of success. Sometimes we imagine that we’ll know when we’ve quenched our hunger for success, but will it really make us happy? And can we find happiness in what we already have.”
“It was super exciting to write with Fickle Friends. I’ve been a huge fan of their work and sound for many years. We got into the studio in Worthing and as always just started having a conversation about how we were feeling and what was going on. We realised we all kind of felt the same about remembering to stop and take in the view sometimes and it can be easy when you’re chasing a dream to forget to do that, and to focus too much on the end goal. But what even is the end goal? This is a track about learning to enjoy the ride. With country pop influences and clean production. It’s one of my favourite tracks to play live”
2023 was without doubt a MAJOR year for Natalie Shay!
Following a string of innovative, and standout hits, the rising indie-pop wonder also severed as opening act for Caity Baser at London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum, performed a sold-out show at OMEARA and made appearances at major festivals including Latitude, Victorious and SXSW.
With the promise of more new music to come throughout 2024, we can’t wait to see what Natalie does next…
